COMMITMENT TO CARE CONFERENCE

UMBC Conference Center

Years ago Delmas Wood, former Area Director for the Maryland State Department of Juvenile Justice remarked that programs don't change people, people change people. Greatness Now wholeheartedly ascribed to Delmas' premise, which is why for 17 amazing years we were a company committed to creating, hosting and supporting projects that pour quality, life-enhancing teaching into people from all walks of life. Below is a few of the signature projects we are proud to say helped thousands of people - personally and professionally - embrace change.

COMMITMENT TO CARE CONFERENCE

With 150 human service professionals in attendance, the goal of the Commitment to Care Conference was to remind participants that in the midst of giving our all to care for others, we also have an obligation to care for self. The one day conference was packed with powerful plenaries, breakout sessions and a closing panel discussion.

SHE AIN'T ANGRY FOR NOTHIN' TRAINING

After working for 15 years with challenged, deep end girls whose potential was buried under piles of anger and bitterness, Mischa authored the She ain't Angry for Nothin' Intervention and Behavior Modification Curriculum, which has been used in 13 cities around the country, to help girls and those who serve girls understand the contributing factors with the anger and aggression some girls display. Just as important, the curriculum has more than 25 engaging exercises/lessons methodically designed to start the healing process for girls.

BUILDING YOUTH LEADERS

Having been asked by Baltimore City Public Schools to design and facilitate a two day youth leadership training for 50 students who were identified as being the most academically disengagement, our Building Youth Leaders curriculum was born. The two days were so phenomenal that the students did not want to return to their schools and requested to do it again. In addition to using the curriculum in this setting, we used it with youth housed at the Baltimore City Detention Center and at other agencies.

BEHIND THE WALL YOUTH CONFERENCE

While serving as the Gang Intervention Specialist with Family League of Baltimore City, Mischa Toland worked collaboratively with the staff in the Juvenile Division of the Baltimore City Detention Center to create the first ever one day Behind the Wall Youth Conference. Approximately 120 male and female juveniles participated. City officials, Department of Education administrators,  and community leaders served as speakers/workshop presenters while youth service program providers set up exhibit tables with resources for the youth. The conference was so successful that Greatness Now was hired as an independent contractor to do the conference a second year after Mischa left Family League. MORE

TRANSFORMATION JOURNEY CLASS

For one year, women commit to an organized teaching experience of going deep within to pull up anything and everything that stands in the way of them owning their truth and living their most courageous life. Though very intense, transformation is guaranteed for those who fully lean into the process.

WORLD CLASS HUMAN BEING SUMMIT

In a world where so much emphasis is placed on perfecting one's craft, sharpening one's skills, and becoming famous by any means necessary, Greatness Now still believes that being a world class human being matters more than anything. Not only is this the substratum of our teaching, in this instance, we gathered over 160 women together along with 4 amazing presenters to unpackage the sometimes complicated levels and layers to becoming a world class human being as a collective sisterhood.

PARENTING UNIVERSITY

Hired by one of our partners to create and facilitate a 10 week parenting program, the Parenting University was born to support court-associated parents who were in the process of meeting the requirements to be reunited with their children. The 5 module curriculum walks parents through some of what is often assumed parents "should know", i.e. healthy vs. unhealthy communication, how to not pass along inherited abusive practices, fixing what you broke, etc. The success of the Parenting University not only allowed the initial group of parents to meet their court requirements, it also afforded Greatness Now the opportunity to reach more parents by implementing the program in schools.

BLACK LOVE TALK

What was intended to be a one time conversation with 20 friends turned into a 5 year once a month group therapy session to support Black men and women in the process of learning to engage one another from a place of love, compassion, respect and honor. In any given month between 50 to 100 Black men and women gathered every 4th Friday to listen to each other's heart while having great fun. The Annual Black Love Luau was a hallmark of the Black Love Talk group.
